The beauty and intrigue of our surroundings are where I find my inspiration. In the countryside, a quiet walk in the woods or during the commute to work each morning. My images are those that bring me pleasure and respite in a hectic world.
While I do enjoy working in a variety of media, my main focus over the past several years has been on mixed media encaustic painting, incorporating photography, drawing, and sculpture.
Encaustic painting is an ancient art form dating back to ancient Rome and Egypt. Using molten beeswax mixed with damar resin, I am able build texture, dig down to previous layers, add collage elements and transfer photos. It is such a versatile medium that is not only visually interesting but also engages your other senses of touch and smell.
